Hi and welcome to HoustonDiner.com.

So, who am I and what are my qualifications for having a Restaurant review site for Houston restaurants?   Let me start with what I am not.

  • Not classically trained as a chef.
  • Not ever operated a restaurant, aside from investing in a small deli in Tennessee over 30 years ago.
  • Not a professional journalist or writer
  • Not a professional Diner

I have, however, spent well over $200,000.00 dining in Houston over the last 20+ years and I know what I like and what I do not like when dining, often entertaining clients at lunch and dining with my wife/extended family on the weekends.

Although not a chef, I love to cook at home and try to replicate great tastes I experience when dining out.  This has enabled me to learn a lot about food preparation, spices, grilling, baking, frying and other cooking methods.  This has given me a greater appreciation for the food I enjoy while dining out.

Because of my job, I often get to know owners and chefs and enjoy the “business” but love to dine where I am not recognized and can dine in quiet, deciding if I have found a restaurant to rave about or one not to mention.
